Post NLDL Information

NLDL has been organized annually since 2018.

2024

NLDL 2024 was organized on January 9th-11th. 254 researchers from 28 different countries gathered in Tromsø gathered in Tromsø for three days of winter school, keynotes, poster sessions, side events centered around "Diversity in AI" and Industry, and other social activities (see full program).

Keynote topics included the trustworthiness of AI (Aasa Feragen), chances and challenges of Reliable AI (Gitta Kutyniok), fair self-supervised learning in multiple modalities with applications to medicine (Narges Razavian), and The Statistical Finite Element method (Mark Girolami) (see keynote speakers).

NLDL 2024 would not have been possible without generous funding from GResearch, The Norwegian Computing Center, Kongsberg Satellite Services, DIPS, and the Research Council of Norway (see financial support).

2023

NLDL in 2023 was organized 10-12 January 2023, as the first physical NLDL in two years. 250 participants participated leading to an exciting three days with contributing talks, keynotes, tutorials as well as a panel discussion (see program), which also included special events for Industry and Diversity in AI.

Keynote talks covered areas of high interest in Deep Learning, such as ODE discovery and image classification with limited labels for medical applications, and eco system monitoring in remote sensing with keynotes from Mihaela van der Schaar, Polina Golland and Christian Igel (see keynote speakers).

NLDL 2023 would not have been possible without generous funding from the research council of Norway and the Norwegian Computing Center (see financial support).

2022

NLDL in 2022 was organized digitally on the 10-12 January 2022. 240 participants participated leading to an exciting three days with contributing talks, keynotes, tutorials as well as a panel discussion (see program), which also included special events for Industry and Women in AI.

Keynote talks covered areas of high interest in Deep Learning, such as explainability, representation learning, attention mechanisms, and applications in biomedicine with keynotes from Serge Belongie, Sophia Ananiadou, Pierre Baldi, and Marina Marie-Claire Höhne (see keynote speakers).

NLDL 2022 would not have been possible without generous funding from the research council of Norway (see financial support).

2021

NLDL in 2021 was organized 18-20 January 2021. Unlike previous NLDLs, this iteration was organized digitally due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 200 participants from more than 20 countries participated, leading to an exciting three days with contributing talks, keynotes as well as a panel discussion (see program).

Keynote talks covered areas of high interest in Deep Learning, such as explainability, medical imaging, tracking, generative models in computer vision and energy-based models with keynotes from Lars Kai Hansen, Laura Leal-Taixé, Arthur Gretton, Elsa D. Angelini, and Roland Vollgraf (see keynote speakers).

NLDL 2021 would not have been possible without generous funding from the research council of Norway (see financial support).

2020

NLDL in 2020 was successfully organised 19-21 January 2020. 140 participants from e.g. Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, India and Malaysia, gathered for three days for insightful discussions and scientific input (see program).

Keynote talks covered areas of high interest in Deep Learning, such as causality, kernel embeddings for meta learning, scene understanding, and applications in medicine as well as remote sensing with keynotes from Bernhard Schölkopf, Julia Schnabel, Dino Sejdinovic, Christoph H. Lampert and Xiaoxiang Zhu (see keynote speakers).

2019

NLDL in 2019 was successfully organised 9-10 January 2019. 100 participants from e.g. Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, USA and Russia, gathered for two days for insightful discussions and scientific input.

Keynote talks covered areas of high interest in Deep Learning, such as explainability, Bayesian Deep Learning, and applications in medicine as well as industry with keynotes from Marleen de Bruijne, Wojciech Samek, Maurizio Filippone, Gitta Kutyniok, and Davide Roverso
