Tromsø
Tromsø is a major cultural hub above the Arctic Circle and it is northernmost city in the world with a population above 50,000. It’s famed as a viewing point for colorful Northern Lights in the winter and midnight sun during summer time. The city’s historic center, on the island of Tromsø, is distinguished by its centuries-old wooden houses. The 1965 Arctic Cathedral, with its distinctive peaked roof and soaring stained-glass windows, dominates the skyline.

Conference venue
UiT The Arctic University of Norway is a medium-sized research university that contributes to knowledge-based development at the regional, national and international level. It is the third largest university in Norway and the northernmost university of the world.
The conference will be held in Auditorium 1 in Teorifagsbygget Hus 1 Floor U1.
Accomodation
There will be a limited number of rooms available at a reduced price through the registration form (opening soon) (first come, first served).
Otherwise, participants are required to find their own accomodation. In the registration form, a selection of hotel alternatives are suggested. We recommend you to use the online site of the suggested hotels or an online hotel booking site such as Expedia, booking.com, Hotel.com, Airbnb.com etc.
How to get there
Travel to Tromsø
It is easy to get to Tromsø from other Norwegian cities and abroad to Tromsø Airport Langnes and the City Centre is close to the airport.
If you are travelling from abroad most departures to Tromsø require changing to connecting flights in Oslo Airport Gardermoen.
Tromsø Airport Langnes is located approximately 5 km from the city centre.
SAS, Widerøe and Norwegian offer direct flights to Tromsø from many destinations in Norway.

Direct flights are available to/from Oslo.
Some direct flights from Stockholm and Copenhagen are available year-round.
Norwegian
Direct flights are available year-round to/from Oslo.
From the airport to the city centre
Airport express coach (Flybussen)
The airport express coach stops at several hotels in central Tromsø and the travel time is approximately 10-15 minutes to Tromsø city center.

Local bus
Route 40 and 42 stop at the airport.
Travel time: approximately 15-20 minutes.
Tickets are sold at the Point kiosk in the arrival hall
Taxi
The taxi stand is located directly outside the arrival hall. The travel time to Tromsø city center is approximately 10 minutes.
From the city centre to UiT
Taxi
If you are located in a hotel just ask the reception to order a taxi for you. It takes approximately 10 minutes from City Centre to the University.
By Bus
Bus number 20 (just one block from Scandic Ishavshotel, just ask in the reception) will take you to UiT. In the rushour it will departure every 15 minute and it takes approximately 10 minutes from City Centre to the University.
Tickets can be bought through the "Troms billet" app and the "Troms reise" app can be used to plan travel.
